Prickly Pear Pediatrics

Our Story

Meet Dr. Webb

Dr. Jennigale Webb grew up in La Grange, TX and graduated salutatorian from her class at La Grange High School. She attended college at the University of Texas at Austin (Hook’em!) where she earned a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Plan II Honors while also meeting her premedical school requirements. She attended University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX where she earned her medical degree in 2015. She then went on to do a 3 year Pediatrics Residency at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. She spent 4 years working at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, TX, where she enjoyed practicing comprehensive Pediatrics in which she was able to take care of patients in the clinic, attend deliveries, take care of NICU babies, and see her own patients in the Pediatric floor of the hospital when they needed to be admitted.

In 2021, Dr. Webb met the love of her life, Kyle, who happened to live in New Braunfels, TX. So in 2022, she moved to New Braunfels and is happy to now call New Braunfels home. She took a position at a nearby Pediatric practice in early 2022 and has enjoyed caring for families in this area. However, it became increasingly clear that insurance companies were interfering with her ability to provide the quality of care that she wanted her patients to have. After discovering the Direct Primary Care and the ability to take excellent care of patients by cutting out the insurance middle man, she felt compelled to open Prickly Pear Pediatrics in 2024.

In her spare time, Dr. Webb loves to play tennis, take long walks around town with Kyle, play fetch with her energetic pups, go on hikes in the hill country, travel to beautiful places, scuba dive, cook, play the piano, and cheer on the Texas Longhorns. She is a lover of all animals and has 3 dogs (Oli, Scout, and Shadow) and one cat (Vino). Ask her about them and she will be happy to show you pictures.

Dr. Webb is thrilled to have the opportunity to practice medicine in a way that prioritizes the relationship between doctor and patient, as she believes that this will lead to creating healthy, happy children and provide the best possible medical care for families.

My Why

“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” — Confucius

During my pediatrics rotation in medical school, I realized that I wasn’t paying attention to how long or hard the days were in the hospital or clinic. Instead, I felt energized and determined to help the kids. I noticed that the kids were resilient and still found the joy in the little stuff. They laughed at my silly jokes even when they were feeling terrible. I knew then that I was going to be a Pediatrician. I was and continue to be inspired by their precious spirits.

Over the last few years, I have found that the pressure to see 20+ patients per day, spending hours documenting for insurance requirements, and not being available when families really needed me has taken away from my ability to connect with kids and their families. I became increasingly frustrated that I couldn’t give each family the time and care that I felt that they deserved. I knew that there had to be another way to practice medicine. And then I discovered the direct primary care model of practice, which cuts out insurance interference and allows me to spend the time and connect with families to create lasting, trusting, and healing relationships. This is why I created Prickly Pear Pediatrics – to take back the joy of practicing medicine in the way that I feel is the best for my patients.

The prickly pear plant is symbolic of health and the ability to thrive in a harsh landscape. The plant itself has medicinal properties and can be eaten to provide hydration, vitamins, and minerals. It blooms with beautiful yellow, pink, or orange flowers and then produces a vibrant colored fruit that also contains vitamins, minerals, and anti-inflammatory properties. The plant and fruit have provided nourishment for humans and animals in desert climates for thousands of years. It is also the state plant of Texas!

My mission at Prickly Pear Pediatrics is to develop a trusting relationship with patients and their families that allows us to work together for a common goal: to foster the growth of happy, healthy children – and to have fun doing it!
